LRMG is pleased to announce the start of what we hope will become a regular event. We are hosting a series of “Jazz for Conservation” events for The River Basins Initiative (RBI) in order to raise funds for the future Crete Community Nature Park. See the details below.

LRMG participated in the Crete Memorial Day Parade. We put together a beautiful float featuring the future Crete Community Nature Park, together with sponsorship assistance from Holland Company, Ero-Tex, and Swanberg Nature Preserve. A barbershop quartet sang ballads in the garden setting comprised exclusively of native plants. Other than being a fun activity, this introduced the upcoming park to the residents of Crete.

Land Resource Management Group (LRMG) has grown into its fifth year in business as a team of recognized restoration ecologists, landscape architects, wetland scientists, greenspace planners, and environmental engineers. Our new office and event space is an open studio for our team of professionals to collaborate, design, and practice the best ways to manage land-to-water resources serving all sectors of society throughout the Chicago metropolitan region.

LRMG created an ideal studio space for clients and the interested public to visit and learn about balancing economic, social, and environmental goals so that together we engage in projects that sustain our natural land and water resource assets.

LRMG has officially moved into a historic building in the center of Crete, Illinois, at the intersection of Exchange Street and Main Street (also called State Route 1 or Dixie Highway). This downtown area is known as the “Heritage District” dating back to 1836 when the Village was incorporated. We are proud to bring our ecological work or “green industry” to a revitalizing town center, helping Crete maintain its history and sense of place.

LRMG, especially in its work in the south suburbs, has recognized an urgent need to step into conservation projects that need a civic bridge for funding and practical leadership.

For example, the need to protect certain landscapes in economically challenged suburbs can be met by our new nonprofit conservancy or land trust called the River Basins Initiative or RBI — a chartered 501(C)(3) organization that shares offices with LRMG and evolved naturally from LRMG’s consulting work and the need to fund and steward large-scale projects to ensure the long-term success of sustainable landscapes.

You will receive information about RBI and be invited to future benefits such as “Jazz for Conservation” and educational events about how this land trust can both save and restore globally unique natural areas in the Chicago Southland. Watch for the following logo:

We encourage you to contact us, visit our website at www.LRMG.net and let us assist you with your landscape and environmental projects. Thank you for noting our new contact information. We hope to see you soon.

LRMG is partnering with the Northern Illinois Anglers Association (NIAA) in conjunction with the Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) in their Adopt-A-River Program. The program has been a continuing success over the years in cleaning up the Kankakee River System. LRMG is adopting a section of the river along the Davis Creek confluence, located near the Bradley Bourbonnais Sportsman’s Club property in Bourbonnais. LRMG employees and other volunteers will partcipate in two clean-up events per year, one of which will be held in conjunction with the Annual NIAA Kankakee/Iroquois River Clean Up. Please visit the NIAA website for further details.
