Bult Field Airport Expansion

The Bult Field project consists of the expansion of the existing Sanger Airport to accomodate larger private jets. The client was provided with services critical to moving forward with the project. LRMG prepared the permit submittal to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers which included off-site wetland mitigation at Plum Creek Valley Ravines, Frankfort Park District Water Conservation and on-site work including soil erosion control plans, storm water Best Management Practices, and naturalized landscape installation, management, and monitoring plans.

The expansion of an existing light industrial park into land with low quality wetlands required creative approaches to wetland mitigation and storm water management. On-site mitigation was selected because it improved water quality at the top of the watershed. Storm water is treated in bio-filtration basins, bio-swales, hybrid drainage structures, and wetland bottom detention basins. Although these areas and their prairie buffers comprise 28% of the site, they are instrumental in allowing this market-driven project to proceed.
